Where do you find your inspiration?

My “therapy” is sewing and handwork. I find inspiration in fabric stores, magazines and television. I particularly love costume dramas from other eras, like Mad Men and Downton Abbey. I began college as a drama major, and one of my biggest regrets in life was not sticking with it. I’m pretty sure I would have found myself in costume design, although an English major has helped to keep me gainfully employed.

What’s the weirdest thing on your desk, and why do you have it?

I have a blow-up replica of Edvard Munch’s The Scream on my desk. I treasure it because it was given to me by Clay Andrews, one of the founding members of LGA. When he gave it to me, he told me it was more appropriate for a production manager than a creative director. And it probably is.

What brands do you admire, and why?

I can’t get enough of Subaru ads. The latest series, with the “Barkley family” dogs, cracks me up. I also love the one of a few years ago with the dad sending his young daughter off on her first solo drive and she turns into a beautiful young woman in the next shot. It also doesn’t hurt that I have a daughter, dogs and own a Subaru.
